Overview

Restoran Woo Ng Kee stands as a steadfast pillar in Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant Chinese culinary scene, nestled along Jalan E 3/7 in Taman Ehsan. What began as a humble roast duck stall has blossomed into a multi-shoplot establishment renowned for its authentic flavors and generous servings, catering primarily to local families and devoted food enthusiasts alike.

The restaurant's hallmark is undoubtedly its roast duck—crispy-skinned and tender, it commands much praise and often sells out quickly, especially on weekends, underscoring its iconic status. Alongside this, the curry fish head emerges as a crown jewel, balancing a rich, subtly spiced coconut gravy that complements fresh fish head and fillet impeccably. It’s a dish that not only satisfies cravings but also speaks to the Malaysian-Chinese heritage woven into the menu.

Other standout dishes such as the ginger braised duck, tender stewed pork in a pot, and the signature deep-fried seafood tofu showcase the kitchen's mastery over traditional techniques infused with local flair. Vegetable options like claypot kangkong and the creative stir-fry of “mei” cai with kai lan—aptly named “mei lan mei lan”—offer fresh, vibrant complements, underscoring the brand’s commitment to balanced dining.

The dining environment spans three connected shoplots, offering an airy, spacious interior with air conditioning that maintains a comfortable temperature despite the often bustling crowd. While the space is lively and filled with chatter, the noise level may require occasional effort to communicate, reflecting the restaurant’s popularity and the close-knit atmosphere of communal dining.

Service at Woo Ng Kee is marked by friendly and attentive staff, often handling busy waves with efficiency, although weekend peak hours can result in longer wait times. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early or pre-book, particularly for sought-after items like the roast duck, to avoid disappointment.

Restoran Woo Ng Kee is more than a place to eat; it’s a culinary experience anchored in tradition, community, and robust flavors. It uniquely balances heritage recipes with approachable pricing and substantial portions, making it a favored spot for those seeking genuine Chinese comfort food in Kuala Lumpur.

The food is delicious. Other famous foods like fish head curry or seafood curry, roasted duck, mei lan mei lan (one type of vege that is mixed with kai lan).. I didn't post the pictures, they are all very good. Service is fast, staff is friendly despite the busy environment. Comfortable dining area with just a nice temperature. Highly recommended!

Totally unexpected pleasant dining experience despite... Woo Ng Kee was not our first choice - in fact we wanted to dine at Xigong but was informed that they had been fully booked. I remembered Woo Ng Kee and I remember that a dear friend told me that food was good - they accepted and we headed to new destination. From its humble beginning selling roast duck, Woo Ng Kee has grown leaps and bounds, slowly but steadily.. that they have now expanded to 3 shoplots & recently opened new restaurant in Puchong. With their big portion and reasonable price, ◾curry fish head - everyone agreed that the curry gravy was one of the best around. I could taste the santan but not too much that it made me jelak - quite balanced and definitely one rice puller. The mixed fish head + fillet were fresh too. ◾猪朋狗友 - zhu pang gao yau.. essentially braised pork trotter (no dog meat inside) but using the old age technique of braising dog meat in the past... Hence the name! I'm a dog lover ◾Ginger braised duck - quite spicy due to the ginger but it didn't deter the hungry pack from devouring it. ◾signature deep fried seafood taufu - one piece for each one seemed not enough. Good stuff! ◾salted egg yolk calamari - I've tried enough of this dish to know which one is good; and this was definitely one of the better ones. Crunchy, savoury and sweet... ◾Buttermilk chicken popcorn - worked wonders with the kids because the gravy was good to mix with rice. ◾sizzling beancurd with minced meat & egg - a classic dish done right ◾美兰美兰我爱你 - one of the signature creations where they stir fried "mei" cai and kai "lan" together hence the name after an old Chinese song. ◾stir fried sweet potato leaves - good enough. I didn't know that their roast duck was so popular that it was sold out when we arrived - only to be told by the lady boss that we had to pre-book on weekends to avoid disappointment. Guess that I have to make another trip for the famed roast duck. My suggestion - come earlier to eat on weekends. They were clearly overwhelmed with the weekend's strong crowd, and I literally had to walk over to the counter to place order. And then it took them more than 40-45 minutes to finally serve the first dish. That is, I had to walk over and remind them. We literally had to shout because it was very noisy inside the restaurant - no proper sound deadening is used.

A hidden gem located in Selayang - Kepong KIP area. Recently discovered this restaurant from recommendation of someone. Based on their photos and newspaper clipping, I believe it's a time honored brand. Most of their workers who taking orders are local chinese, and their customers are mainly local customers also. The worker who taking our order were very friendly and helpful, they helped us to change a larger table when they saw us having a smaller table which might not be enough for 7 pax. Food are delicious especially their roasted duck and Claypot kangkong. I believed their curry fish head also one of their famous dishes but too bad we are having 2 kids together us and they unable to take spicy food. In terms of the pricing, it costs us less than RM300 for 5 dishes, including steam fish, roasted duck, prawn, Claypot kangkong and toufu. This price is included rice and drinks for 5 adults and 2 kids. It's very reasonable and acceptable for me. Recommended

This restaurant is well-known for its tasty fish head curry, braised pork, and roasted duck. Honestly all these are very good tasting, definitely did stand out from other similar restaurants. Expect to wait longer for dishes to be served as this place is always packed with lots of diners. Price wise this restaurant is slightly pricey than typical Chinese restaurants but definitely worth it.
